Procrastination: Do you really care for yourself?
My today’s take on the topic today is different from conventional school of thinking. I don’t mean laziness as procrastination but simply not to take action when necessary. You will be amazed that even people who received substantial success in life astonishingly turn themselves into a procrastinated state of mind. They sometimes forget the past where at the right time, at the right places, they were present to take the chances. Those chances only make us different and deliver a meaningful life. Otherwise, your own past could be good but if you stop to act in the present time, then things wont turn as you ever wanted.
In my mentorship program, I very recently met a CEO from who was running a company in Sweden. He stayed there a few years and founded the company after he finished his phd. Then he came back home and established another office in Chandigarh in the same business he was doing. When I first met him, he was very enthusiastic. However, when our business coaching sessions continued, I found he had an intelligent brain but was very much reluctant to take steps when he had to. His business has been facing substantial resistance due to emerging take over by AI in the Swedish market. I worked on him for next 4 months and helped to change his mindset about procrastination and things got better. However, I asked him to follow the principles as below.
1. Purpose: if purpose is missing then what is the whole point to live anyway? Your purpose is something greater than your life and always something you want to touch but it is never enough for you. That sense only pulls you through this life.
2. Mission: your mission is a broad way of thinking and living your life, but not a short term goal. You get to focus and be extremely alert while you chose to continue your employment or business. It is a grounded sense of direction where you lead your own life.
3. Responsibility: Your work or business or any hobby you want to build to perfection, needs only your attention. None is going to do your work and it is almost spiritual to be self sufficient in everything. All the big, rich and successful people feel certain responsibilities not only to their own life or family but to the society, employees, staff and more. Responsibility simply does not make you stop or procrastinate even if you want to.Read here
4. Problems: More problems always mean more chances to do new things. I have followed this one simple formula in my own business and that is more problems will always give me new areas for either improvement or development. I love problems and you should too. No problem means neither you nor the world need you.Anyway if you are blessed to have a life where doing nothing and being happy happens simultaneously, stay blessed. I made my CEO student understand that problems are good to have.
5. Self care: While you establish all the four points mentioned previously, you have to take care of your own self. This is something everybody does not care about. If you are not exercising regularly or meditating for better and calmer mental health, your body cannot neglect the tolls and toils life will impose on you. Whatever you do, you do better when you are fit.
Go for a walk in the market of life and shop for bigger problems. If you want to earn satisfying wealth, you get to move from where you are now.
Peace!
