Excessive Self promotion: A Dangerous game to play in business and life

Today’s blog post needs your ego-less attention to it and it does not relate to the core idea of marketing. It relates to the egoistic and idiotic approach people take sometimes. It just harms your personal growth. Let me explain briefly below.

Sometimes, we promote our selves or ideas so much that lies start to kindle. Self promotion is a kind of flattery and based on lies most of the time. Those lies vary from your financial conditions to your societal or marital status to your own self. We don’t get to know exactly when for the sake of self promotion, we distance ourselves from reality. In my life coaching and mentor-ship programs I see this very often. People with a successful career start losing their mind, gaining horrendous ego and hence, inviting darkness in their personal or career growth.

I must repeat one simple truth that you are the same person in personal and professional life but carrying two images falsely. It is impossible to be a robot and carry your stress generated from home to office and vice versa. I am to iterate the fact that our knowledge and experience invites whatever success we are going to have, not the promotions. Apple never over-promotes iphones in such a way that it loses its essence which is the quality of the brand itself. When you play the game of self promotion then be ready to face one examination for sure. The examination of what you have within you to play the game in its maxima and whether you support the factors to win or not.

Is promotion bad? No indeed. Forceful promotion is bad and you need to know capability of your own in the game. In this era of digital promotions and keeping up with the followers, do you really deliver a quality service or product? Many of the times I have seen CEO’s overdo whatever they do and end up screwing the goodness of the process.

Life is unfair and unforgiving. If you are a business owner, an executive or home maker, you have to face life and its tantrums. Your position is better when you know your SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunity and threats) of your own life. However, I can give you a suggestion; don’t do self promotion, but productize yourself first. At the end of the day, mere talking cannot bring better mental and financial conditions for you, a better knowledge will though.
